In terms of value, regarding postage stamps, the albums have no much of value, but they represent the first form of diplomatic gifts used by the Republic of Croatia and made by the Croatian Post.
In 1993, Croatian Post had specially equipped albums made for the diplomatic needs of the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia, who at that time, as the first president of the Republic of Croatia, was Dr. Franjo Tuđman. According to some sources, the number of albums printed was around 50, and according to others, around 200. A print run of 200 copies is more likely and would not be chosen entirely at random. At that time, the total number of countries in the world, or territories that had elements of statehood, was about 230, and slightly less than 170 of them were members of the UN.
According to information obtained from the Croatian State Archives, the first albums were forwarded to the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia on July 8, 1993. for protocol purposes. They were intended as a promotional diplomatic gift to probably the highest authorities of the countries with which the Republic of Croatia established its first official contacts in the nineties of the 20th century. In philatelic circles, after the death of The President Dr. Franjo Tuđman the appearance of 13 such albums is known, and according to information from the Croatian State Archives, it is confirmed that 200 copies were made. Almost but those 13 were used in state’s purposes.
The contents of the album are one stamp and its block of 4 for all issues in the period 1991 to April 1993 with the corresponding description of the issue in Croatian and English. Albums were made in Italy and released with leather covers and inserts.
